37th Berliner Halbmarathon – BTGBerlin

Last weekend LDN Brunch Club headed out to Berlin for the 37th Berliner Halbmarathon. Joining the Bridge the Gap community once again, we came together for a very special Homies Half to celebrate the fifth year of both the BTG movement and one of the host crews, the Berlin Braves.

Berlin offers up a fast, flat 21km – the perfect course for smashing some half marathon PBs. With some great races ran by the crew, that’s exactly what we did, adding to the list of reasons to celebrate.

Now we focus our minds and re-set our bodies as we prepare to take to the streets of our home town for London Marathon in just 18 days’ time, followed by Virgin Sports first Festival of Fitness in Hackney a week later.

In true LDN Brunch Club style we hit up some of the top brunch spots in Berlin. Here are our top 3 recommendations for post-run refuelling in Berlin – enjoy!

  1. The Rose Garden
Great coffee and relaxed vibes make The Rose Garden a great place to start the day. Try their acai, granola, Bircher or smoothie bowls. You won’t be disappointed!
  2. Spreegold
With an extensive menu featuring Paleo options a plenty, we naturally went for a two course breakfast option. The Paleo omelette is protein packed – perfect for aiding leg muscle recovery!
  3. House of Small Wonder
An unassuming spot from the outside but climb the spiral staircase of House of Small Wonder and you’ll find a little slice of brunch heaven. Try the Japanese inspired menu with a perfect matcha latte and Soboro Don or the croissant French toast to satisfy the sweet craving.
